1904 Turnkey Engine
JCS Premium Quality Dual Port Engine

1904 cc Stroker - 74mm Stroke x 90.5mm Bore

The longer 74mm stroke crank produces additional low end torque and requires only minimal case clearencing thus retaining it's strength and integrity. With the use of special counterweights and balancing this crank  produces excellent low end torque and a significant performance increase throughout it's entire R.P.M. range.

Case


Only late style dual pressure relief cases are used. They are first hot tank, then thoroughly washed by hand.  The cylinder base area is decked and  surfaced on a Bridgeport Mill to set initial deck height alignment between all four cylinders and and to eliminate oil leads at the base of the cylinders. Case inserts or "Case Savers" are installed, Align Boring and all remaining machine work  is done and then the case is thoroughly cleaned again and painted.


 
"BIG VALVE" 041 Style Heads


JCS buys thousands of head cores every year. A good portion of those are scrapped for the aluminum "scrap value" because they are too worn to be rebuilt or require too much work. We select only the best cores for rebuilding to insure a high quality, dependable finished product and to minimize the amount of labor put into rebuilding a head.  These select cores are then fully machined... valve guides are replaced with  manganese-bronze guides  designed for extreme wear resistance and improved lubrication.  All valve seats are replaced with heat treated chromoly  tool steel seats  that promote a quick,  high heat transfer rate from the valve to the cylinder head casting.  JCS Big Valve Heads with the larger 39mm stainless steel "Swirl Polished" valves provide the additional breathing properties needed to extract the benifits of the performance cams additional lift and duration.

VW Connecting Rods


Late style 1600 rod cores are shot-peened,  sandblasted and checked for straightness. New wrist pin bushings are installed then rods are bored and honed center to center.

 

 

Counterweighted Crankshaft


In Hi-Performance applications producing big horsepower the typical VW crankshaft (without counterweights) causes premature wear on the main bearings and saddles. The  Counterweighted Crankshaft solves this problem by adding weight (counter weights) on opposite ends of the rod journal throws...opposing weight that balances out the entire unit. The crank is then 8 doweled and balanced.  An engine equiped with a counterweighted crankshaft runs smoother, produces more power and lasts longer.

 

 

 VW Flywheels


Only German flywheel cores are first inspected for worn or damaged teeth,  dowel pin holes and clutch disc mating surface wear to make sure it has not been worn or cut too deep.  After shot peening and sandblasting the seal area is polished,  the dowel pin hole area is faced to ensure proper mating to the crank and then precision ground and polished to exact specifications.

 

JCS  110 Camshaft

 

Profiled off the Engle 110 grind (.430 x 284) the JCS reground German cam still idles smoothly... with just a barely discernible "lope". Higher lift and longer duration produces a strong performance boost throughout it's entire rpm range with a low end power torque increase.

 

 

 

 

Stock Style Heavy Duty Oil Pump

 

Made from die cast aluminum alloy the pump housing is fully machined to exacting tolerances. Larger 30mm steel gears provide increased oil pressure during low speed operation. Pumped oil volume is increased by 30% - 40% over stock promoting lower operating temperatures.

 

 

 

 

Double Thrust Cam Bearings


Typical VW cam bearings have the thrust shoulder on half of the thrust bearing.  The double thrust bearings  provide an equal 360 degree surface to support the camshaft and control wear.

 

 

8 Dowel Crank  & Flywheel


The  VW 4 dowel crank and flywheel combination is just fine for a stock engine designed for reliability and economy... not so in performance applications.  All JCS Hi-performance engines come with an 8 dowel setup (SPG pattern) to effectively bond the crank to flywheel,  virtually eliminating the possibility of wobbled holes or shearing.

 

 

Heavy Duty Swivel Adjusters


These hardened and heat treated rocker arm adjusters are designed to spread the impact load on the valve ends and improve control of valve setting tolerances.  These all-new swivel feet are the answer for valve wear caused by high lift cams and high valve spring pressures.

 

 

Hi Carbon Steel Pushrods


High Carbon Steel pushrods  are heat treated to resist flexing and bending at high rpm's.
